Shell Selecta Machine

The chances are good that anyone’s who’s ever been on the road for any length of time has stopped at a Shell station to either fill up the car or replenish their own dwindling energy supplies.

That’s why the news that Shell has commissioned Selecta to help them develop their Shell Café concept is worth noting. A premium bean to cup to-go coffee offer, the partnership is all about offering Shell customers the most refreshing break possible.

Eight countries will benefit from the partnership (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands) in a 3-year contract that covers more than 1400 Shell stations all over the continent. The results have been so well received that Selecta Slovakia and Hungary have also been commissioned by Shell for other vending contracts.

The pan-European deal sees Selecta managing the technical and operational parts of the partnership as well as, through a specially designated team of coffee experts, being highly involved in the choice of coffee blends, all using only the finest 100% Arabica coffee beans sourced from all over the globe. The combination of Shell and Selecta is sure to result in exceptionally refreshing coffee breaks for people on the go. Keep an eye out too for Shell branded merchandising and provisions, all put into place by Selecta.

The perfect cup of coffee was the intended end result for both sides. It makes sense that quality coffee beans lead to great tasting coffee and we’re pleased to pass on that the Selecta-Shell coffee offer has been well-rated in taste testing in a recent coffee survey carried out in Holland by a national newspaper (Algemeen Dagblad). The express purpose of the survey was to rank coffee taste in petrol stations, Horeca, fast food and convenience stores. To give you an idea of ranking, Shell coffee is ranked well ahead of BP coffee and in a better position than McDonalds.

In The Netherlands, one of the first markets to roll out this exciting concept, Selecta Netherlands installed the Shell Café space in over 140 Shell fuel stations in little over 3 months. Coffee sales at the Shell Café are already up by 12%. With all the three hundred-odd machines restyled in the exciting new Shell Café look, Shell proves it is looking towards the future and it has chosen Selecta as its partner.
