Pelican Rouge coffee our commitments

Growing and roasting coffee affects the farmers who grow it and the land it's grown on. Here's what we do about that.

Certified Coffee

We are committed to sourcing coffee coming from certified farms while supporting supply chain partners and farmers to achieve certification. Since 2023, 100% of Pelican Rouge branded coffee has been certified under the Rainforest Alliance or Fairtrade schemes.

Farm-level Programs

Through the Selecta Coffee Fund, we run programs directly with farmers we are sourcing from to improve their livelihoods and the environmental and social impact of the coffee farms. One example is our Heifer program in Rwanda, which has supported 714 farmer families to August 2026 to increase their yields through better fertilisation, improve health through milk consumption and diversify income through milk and calf sales.

recyclable packaging

Since 2023. our Pelican Rouge branded coffee bags are made from a single material, excluding the valve. This packaging is made of low density polyethylene (LDPE), which is easier to recycle compared to traditional multi-material packaging. LDPE is widely recognized in European sorting and recycling systems.
